Silver Print, the archival printing arm of Shutterspace Studios, launchesSpotlight, a living collection of original Filipino photography, on Saturday, November 7, at ShutterspaceStudios on Katipunan Avenue.

Spotlight presents original works by Filipino photographers, from emerging practitioners to establishednames such as ad creative Fourth Barleta, Neal Oshima, Jilson Tiu and MM Yu. It gives photographers, many of whom spend their working days on commissioned shoots, a dedicated platform for presentingand selling their own work, and it invites audiences to experience that work beyond the screen.

At the center of the platform is a model built for creatives. Participating artists take on no financial risk.Silver Print covers all costs of marketing, print production and program design, so photographers do notfinance a campaign, pay for production or hold inventory. They contribute their original work; SilverPrint presents, promotes and produces it.

The approach was proven during the pandemic. In 2020, Silver Print led Shelter Fund, which sold morethan 2,000 prints for close to 300 local artists and photographers through print-on-demand. Spotlightcarries that model forward and adds a physical layer. Its Crate Editions, each an A4 print in a 12 × 12-inch mount, are kept at the studio in crates that visitors flip through like records, so they can see thepaper, tone and detail of a real print before they buy.

Every Spotlight print is a fine art print, produced with museum-grade pigment inks on acid-freeHahnemühle fine art paper by a Hahnemühle Certified Gold Studio, then hand-signed by the artist andissued with a certificate of authenticity. Works are also available as a Print Only in sizes from A5 to A1, starting at PHP 1,700.

“Collectorship begins with choosing a work you want to live with,” Silver Print said. “You do not needspecialist knowledge or an existing collection. Start with a photograph that moves you.”

Spotlight opens in 2026, the bicentenary of photography. It has no closing date: new photographers andworks will join the collection after the launch, through an online catalog and its social media channels.
