Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines sets course for ‘transformative innovation’ in 2024

Vince Tobias

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Digital Marketing Association of the Philippines (DMAP) unveiled its 2024 theme of “Transformative Innovation for Impactful Growth” in its first GMM for 2024 on January 25 at the Enderun Atrium, Bonifacio Global City, as it introduced and inducted the association’s Board of Trustees for 2024.

DMAP announced its plans to leverage transformative innovation and help deliver impactful growth for members, brands, businesses, and the Philippine digital industry, through the programs and activities lined up for this year.

The night’s guest of honor, Vince Tobias, Ayala Corporation’s Head of Innovation, inducted DMAP’s new board of trustees and executive committee and likewise shared his experience in building and elevating innovation at the Ayala group’s BPI and FamilyDoc.

DMAP President Manny Gonzales said that its 2024 direction was a response to what brands, businesses, and individuals are looking for in today’s time of uncertainty. “In a recent study by Gartner, the top three things that organizations and individuals are focusing on are growth, upskilling the workforce, and purposively harnessing the power of technology. This inspired the board during our strategic planning to come up with the theme of transformative innovation for impactful growth. We are not just looking at showing what’s trending or ‘shiny,’ but also guiding them, laying down a roadmap for them to ensure that growth happens through innovation. It can be personal growth, brand and business growth, or growth of the Philippines’ digital industry.”

Some of the major program innovations involve two of DMAP’s long-running tentpole events: Digicon, the largest marketing conference in the Philippines, and the Boomerang Awards, the premier digital marketing competition in the industry.

Reviewing the plans, Vince counseled DMAP’s board of trustees, “Innovation must be transformative…to make sure our products are future-resilient, and our people to be future-ready. But I’d like to point out that innovation must be transformative to the consumers, the end-users–and even the non-end-users.  Because to the underserved and unserved, many products and services are not available, due to blockers to consumption.”

Tobias’ call was received intently by the DMAP’s executive leadership and trustees, who represent high-profile brands and industry players.
