IMMAP inducts 2010 Officers and Directors, Xurpas’ Nolledo new president

One of the Advertising Board of the Philippines’ (AdBoard) youngest members, the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (IMMAP), recently inducted its 2010 Officers and Board of Directors at ACCEED, Asian Institute of Management.

2010 IMMAP president, Nico Nolledo, rallied the members to another note-worthy year, with the goal to double the achievements of 2009 in terms of membership, revenue, expanding talent base, and increase ad spend.  Nolledo reported on the IMMAP’s Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) partnership for the year.

Part of the 2010 IMMAP’s plans is senior industry leadership support.  Digital campaigns have profoundly changed production work, in that it was expedited the process.  “The wave of the future, that is digital, is integral to marketing as a whole,” said Nolledo.

As past president 2009 and current Director, Art Policarpio remarked on a number of highlights of the year. During his term, the IMMAP became a member of the international group Mobile Marketing Association (MMA).  Policarpio expressed the growth of IMMAP in the grounds it gained with advertising.  The number of agencies that joined the Boomerang Awards in 2009 increased phenomenally from its debut in 2008.  Moreover, in the recent 21st Philippine Advertising Congress, 30-40% of the talks was on digital.

“Online growth was exponential (in 2009).  The Ayala Foundation raised PhP2 million for Typhoon Ondoy victims, all via online transactions,” revealed Policarpio.

Having inducted all of IMMAP’s officers and directors since its inception, AdBoard and PANA Chairman, Charmaine Canillas, reveled in the induction theme, “Digital Rocks”.  Canillas gave a lively recount of how cyberspace and digital, all commonplace in the 21st century, vastly differed from two decades ago.

Canillas described how she queued for an hour to use a payphone to report to her boss how the set up of the event was coming along, and spending another hour walking back to the site, whereupon she had to gather the crucial individuals to relay the reactions of the boss.   The ease of having SMS and mobile could never be understated.   Her summary narrative on having gone through the use of flipcharts brought the house down.  Thank goodness for Powerpoint presentations!

“Digital has synergy with the industry.  All aspects of advertising has been changed by digital media,” stated Canillas.

Sponsors of the evening’s event, Effective Measure co-founder James Robertson, introduced its services via “The Future of Digital Media Planning and Measurement in South Asia and the Philippines”.   Acting as a conduit between publisher and advertiser, Effective Measure produces metrics based on quantity and demographics of users using a particular medium, as well as using site-audited tag systems.  The company is offering six-month trial periods to all interested parties.
