Especia Rum returns home after global triumphs

MANILA, PHILIPPINES  After captivating judges and connoisseurs across the United States and Europe, Especia Spiced Rum has finally arrived in the Philippines, ready to delight local palates with its rich character and award-winning profile.

Originally launched in the U.S., Especia quickly gained international recognition. At its debut, it won Double Gold at the San Diego Spirits Festival, praised for its elegant aromas and warm finish. It later secured a Gold Medal and the coveted “Best in Category” distinction at the New Orleans Spirits Competition, firmly establishing its place among the world’s finest spiced rums.

Especia’s accolades continued with a Silver Medal at the 2022 Bartender Spirits Awards, and in 2023, an impressive 87-point rating from Europe’s respected spirits authority, Falstaff, for its notes of burnt caramel, vanilla, and spice. To date, the Filipino-made rum has collected 18 global medals, a testament to its rising international stature.

Crafted from locally sourced molasses and aged for up to seven years in ex-bourbon barrels, Especia delivers a complex yet approachable drinking experience. Its golden-amber hue sets the stage for inviting aromas of cinnamon, honey, ginger, and vanilla, opening into a medley of tropical fruits, caramel, and baking spices on the palate. Bottled at 40% ABV, it is versatile enough to enjoy neat, mixed into cocktails, or shared in a celebratory toast.

“We are proud that a Philippine brand is performing well on the global stage,” said Roy Kristoffer Sumang, Tanduay’s International Business Development Manager. “This recognition reflects the hard work of our teams and the continued trust of our consumers worldwide.”
