Events: 224 finalists for the One Show 2020 come from Asia-Pacific, winners to be announced in June

NEW YORK, USA — Agencies and studios in 14 countries throughout Asia-Pacific landed 224 entries on The One Show 2020 finalists list, announced The One Club for Creativity.

The One Show is the year’s largest global awards show in advertising and design. Winners will be announced in a special streaming event in mid-June, with details to be announced shortly.

The One Show 2020 juries selected 1,669 finalists representing 46 countries. McCann New York has the most One Show 2020 finalist entries with 66, followed by BBDO New York with 40 and FCB Chicago with 31.  The entry with the most finalists spots is Burger King “Moldy Whopper”, created by INGO Stockholm with DAVID Miami and Publicis Bucharest, with 24.

In the Asia-Pacific region, Japan leads the way with 44 One Show 2020 finalists.  Dentsu Tokyo has 13, including four for Mori Building Co. “Designing Tokyo.”

TBWA\Hakuhodo Tokyo has 11 finalists, including five for Japan Para Table Tennis Association “The Most Challenging Pingpong Table.”

Geometry Ogilvy Japan Tokyo has five One Show finalists, all for JFOODO “The Edible Sushi Omamori.”

SHA Inc. Tokyo has four, all for NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) “The Hidden Essence.”

Agencies in India have 43 One Show finalists, led by FCBIndia Mumbai with 16 for Mumbai Police “The Punishing Signal.”

FCBIndia Gurgaon has seven, all for The Times of India “Out and Proud Classified.”

Dentsu Webchutney Bengaluru has five, including three for Swiggy (Bundl Technologies) “Voice of Hunger’.”

In Mainland China, agencies scored 31 One Show finalists, including six for Ogilvy Shanghai, five for Cheil PengTai Beijing, and three each for Accenture Interactive China Shanghai and Ogilvy Beijing.

Hong Kong has 20 One Show finalists, including 13 from Cheil Hong Kong Bangkok (eight for Chupa Chups (Snack To Home) “A Sweet Escape.”

Work from 14 agencies and studios in Australia landed 29 finalists spots this year. CHE Proximity Sydney has five, including four for Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation “Curing Homesickness.” DDB Sydney, Haystac Windsor, McCann Melbourne and TBWA Melbourne have three each.

New Zealand is next with 23 One Show Finalist entries. DDB Group New Zealand Auckland leads the country with 12, including four for Kiwirail “Near Miss Memorials.”  Colenso BBDO Auckland and Special Group Auckland have four finalists each, and Clemenger BBDO Wellington has two.

There are 12 One Show finalists from Thailand (including eight for Ogilvy Group Thailand Bangkok), eight from Singapore, five from Republic of Korea, three from Philippines, two from Malaysia, and one each from Sri Lanka and Vietnam. There are two finalists from Taiwan.

“People in the industry are eager for some good news, we’ve been inundated with inquiries about who made the final cut for The One Show,” said Kevin Swanepoel, CEO of The One Club.  “In a year when other awards have been canceled, The One Show is the leading global awards program to elevate and celebrate the broad range of advertising and design work from around the world.”

 

Creative Month 2020

This year’s One Show finalists announcement comes during The One Club’s Creative Month 2020, an expansive streaming event running free of charge May 4-29 featuring a wide range of original creative inspiration, education, gender equality, inclusion & diversity and professional development content specifically developed for a global online audience.

In place of annual in-person Creative Week programming in NYC, The One Club worked with more than 60 top global creative leaders to produce a month of entertaining and engaging original content designed to inform and inspire the global creative community.  Sessions will stream at three set times each day and are viewable at any time later from the Creative Month archive.
