Campaign Spotlight: On Father’s Day, Jollibee pays heartwarming tribute to dads through different lens

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Dads have always been the picture of dependability. Traditionally the “haligi ng tahanan” [pillar of the home], fathers’ have always been the family’s biggest supporter — even if it’s behind the scenes. This Father’s Day 2022, Jollibee and McCann Worldgroup celebrate a father’s unfaltering love for their families.

“In a father’s eyes, his memories don’t revolve around him, they are centered on his family. A father paints a picture that showcases strength, gentleness, dependability, compassion, and responsibility,” said Arline Adeva, Jollibee Assistant Vice President and Head of Brand PR, Engagement, and Digital Marketing. “With this Kwentong Jollibee, we wanted to thank our dads for always being there with us, even though he’s not always in the spotlight. We thank him for being our playmate, our support, our best friend, and most of all, our champion and for doing it all without asking for anything in return.”


Titled “Portraits,” the video tells the story and focuses on the montage of the times when fathers seemingly take a backseat and are “missing-in-action” during celebrations: from birthday parties, graduations, and other special occasions. It highlights how fathers willingly and happily take on the responsibility of ensuring their family’s happiness even if it means they are working behind-the-scenes.

The short film was directed by award-winning director Chris Martinez who previously directed Jollibee’s Father’s Day short films, High Five (2018) and Maestro (2021).

“Children look to their fathers as their security blanket–the person that will always keep them safe and happy,” said director Chris Martinez. “Fathers may not always be outwardly expressive or showy with their love but with this Kwentong Jollibee video, we are celebrating how fathers have always been there for their families no matter what.”

“A father is someone who always keeps you company throughout life; he’s always there for you no matter what, he always guides and teaches you. This Father’s Day, we capture the joys of fatherhood, and the sometimes-unappreciated things that they do to ensure their family’s happiness,” said Sid Samodio, Executive Creative Director, McCann Worldgroup. “For the whole year, they are so focused on their family. This year we shift the focus onto them and say thank you for all the things that they do.”
