PHILIPPINES – JULY 25, 2011 – Staying true to his role as celebrity endorser for pain reliever Alaxan FR, Manny Pacquiao tried to ease some of the pain for the Philippine Azkals after losing out to the Kuwaiti football team recently. The boxing champ and Saranggani congressman told the Azkals – who also happens to endorse rival brand Cortal SQR – to keep their chin up as they hope for a better game next time.
“Don’t be afraid of pain. Fight on. Win or lose, Filipinos will always be proud of you,” Pacquiao said in the vernacular. He also stated that more than defeat, the Azkals should start looking forward to working even harder to get started on their next victory. Pacquiao then capped off his message by commending the Azkals for their efforts, saying “aray nyo, galing nyo (your pain, your strengths),” alluding to Alaxan’s campaign tag line of late.
The message of support by Publicis JimenezBasic mainly made the rounds on YouTube and Facebook. It debuted to generally positive reactions from netizens, some of whom labeled Pacquiao’s message as an exemplary display of sportsmanship among athletes.
