Campaign Spotlight: Superheroes need super friends in Greenwich’s new campaign from Publicis JimenezBasic and Viva Production and Creative Services

MANILA – Even superheroes need some time with their friends. Just as Superman and Wonder Woman need time with the Justice League or Iron Man and Captain America need to hang out with their fellow Avengers, people look for their peers to commiserate with or just to have someone to talk to.

In the latest ad by Publicis JimenezBasic and executed by Viva Production and Creative Services, Greenwich celebrates Friendship Month. The campaign also introduces the Greenwich Barkadables, and their superhero struggles are all too real for even mere mortals as we are.

The quartet of Epic Girl, Hula Boy, Wing Man, and Mr. Ultimate come together to thwart evildoers. They reward themselves with a visit to Greenwich before dispersing to return to their individual lives. That’s when the drama begins.

Epic Girl is confronted by her parents for her grades slipping in school. Wing Man is two hours late once more for a date with his girlfriend. Hula Boy’s waistline keeps expanding. Mr. Ultimate can’t find employment.

As “Tag-ulan” by Thyro and Yumi plays in the background and Epic Girl is grounded, the other three Barkadables visit her with some Greenwich pizza delivery. The gang help her with her special school project while they assist Wing Man in wooing his girlfriend back. They also push Hula Boy to do pushups and prepare Mr. Ultimate for a coming job interview (which he promptly aces).

When the four regroup once more in a Greenwich branch, they celebrate together as these words appear onscreen: “Kahit superheroes kailangan ng kaibigang maaasahan sa lungkot at saya. Para sa lahat ng barkada, Happy Friendship Month from Greenwich.”

The ad ends with a rumble from the skies as a new villain appears to terrorize the city. This causes the Barkadables to mobilize once more, even if Hula Boy is hesitant to leave his Wacky Wings behind.
