Chris Chiu leaves Leo Burnett Singapore for creative consultancy

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, FEBRUARY 20, 2012: Leo Burnett Singapore’s group executive creative director Chris Chiu leaves his post for creative consultancy. John Kyriakou, Leo Burnett Singapore’s chief executive officer will be doubling as chief creative officer.

Following eleven years with Leo Burnett across Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, Chiu has decided to leave and focus on his new creative consultancy, but will continue to support Kyriakou and Leo Burnett Singapore on selected accounts and projects throughout the year.

Chiu was unavailable for comment on his new venture at press-time, but Kyriakou said he would continue to support the agency on selected accounts and projects throughout the year. Chiu led the Singapore creative team for the past five years and is credited with building the office’s award-winning form.
With Chiu’s exit, Kyriakou has taken on additional responsibilities as chief creative officer on an interim basis. “Between Chris and me, the creative leadership will continue with minimal impact on the day-to-day operations for the year ahead,” he said, adding that Burnett was shortlisting “world-class candidates for the full time role of chief creative officer to lead the office in the long run”.

A separate announcement will also be made shortly on filling Chiu’s responsibilities as Southeast Asia creative leader on Burnett’s internal product committees across five markets.
