OMD Australia appoints Head of Social

ASIA-PACIFIC – SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA, DECEMBER 12, 2011: OMD announces the appointment of Paul Gilbert as National Director of OMD WORD, its social media group.  
 
Gilbert brings with him over 11 years of digital media and new media experience within the Australian marketplace, working across a wide range of industry sectors including retail, FMCG, telecoms, finance and TV broadcasting. With a passion for the changing media landscape, Gilbert has managed and developed digital media teams focused on creating unique content and ensuring clients successfully leverage their products, services and brand across all new and emerging channels.  
 
Gilbert most recently headed a social media start-up agency We Manage Social focused on providing enterprise businesses with a mature approach to social media moderation, customer support and brand protection. Previous roles have included Head of Digital for Hyro Digital Media, and Head of New Media at World where he worked to expand new consumer engagement channels in both broadcast media and digital media marketing.  
 
Alistair Henderson, National Head of Strategy at OMD said: “We’re very excited to have Paul join OMD to lead the growth of our social media offering and its integration with the agency’s combined skill set. Paul has deep digital experience that goes to the heart of enterprise digital strategy. He will add substantially to the strategic, creative and commercial thinking we provide OMD clients.”

Gilbert will be based in OMD Sydney and will report into Alistair Henderson. He will be joined by newly appointed Social Media Strategist Grace Gordon who will be based in the OMD Melbourne office. Gordon joins from Soap Creative where she managed the social media department working across a ream of FMCG and entertainment clients.
