Streamers take the plunge: EE’s The First Drop celebrates Call of Duty’s return to Verdansk

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — In a sky-high fusion of thrill and nostalgia, EE and Boomerang take gamers on an adrenaline-fueled trip back to Verdansk – 15,000 feet above the ground.

To mark the triumphant return of Call of Duty: Warzone’s most iconic battleground, The First Drop activation launched with a gravity defying stunt that brought gaming into the clouds. Twitch sensation Aaron Turner, aka AaronTheLoco, along with fellow streamers Bernard Cosgrove, Temitope Agboola, and Eoin Hogan, leapt out of a plane in true Warzone fashion, re-enacting the legendary Verdansk drop in real life.

After an electrifying 60-second freefall, the squad touched down in a remote location with gear prepped and broadband blazing where they fired up Twitch and went live, streaming a nostalgic playthrough of the revamped Verdansk using EE’s ultra-fast broadband and gaming kits from the EE Game Store.

The skydive wasn’t just a jaw-dropping feat, it was also a clever nod to EE’s big ambitions in the gaming world, signaling their bid to become the UK’s number one gaming destination. And the gamers? They weren’t just dropping in. Viewers tuned in via a Call of Duty-themed hangar setup to catch the leap in real time, before joining the streamers for post-drop gameplay, behind the scenes stories, and epic in game giveaways from EE.

Created by Boomerang with support from Saatchi & Saatchi, the activation captivated fans’ imagination, rekindling feelings of nostalgia they experienced when the map was originally unveiled. To keep the excitement going, next week, a highlight video will drop across Instagram and TikTok, driving viewers to the EE Game Store for more gaming action.
