PHILIPPINES, DECEMBER 17, 2010 – After being named The Network of the Year by Spikes Asia, DDB beefs up its creative team in the local market by appointing multi-awarded Joey Ong as executive creative director for DDB Philippines effective January 25, 2011.
Group President & CEO Gil G. Chua is thrilled to see the agency’s creative line up strengthened with Ong at its helm. “This is another step towards forging DDB’s Social Creativity brandmark and improving our service to our clients,” he noted.
Ong joins from Bates 141 Manila after three years with the agency as ECD. He comes to DDB with a number of metals under his belt including a Gold Spikes for Tulakabataan at Spikes Asia last September. He is best known for his Greenpeace “Trees” print ad, which won the country’s first ADFEST Gold in 2007 when he was still with JWT. He has won in both international and local award shows from Cannes, Clio, One Show, D&AD merit, to the Advertising Congress and The Creative Guild Kidlat Awards. He is ranked 8th ECD in the Philippines by Campaign Magazine. He has also led creative divisions of TBWA and JimenezBasic Publicis Groupe in his seven years of industry experience.
