Virgin Media O2 and VCCP launch bold new chapter in ‘To Better and Beyond’ platform with Trunk Trucker

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – Virgin Media O2 has unveiled Trunk Trucker, the fourth installment of its award winning “To Better and Beyond” campaign, created in partnership with long-time creative agency of record, VCCP. This latest chapter puts a spotlight on Virgin Media’s expansive TV and entertainment offering, following earlier celebrated campaigns Highland RiderGoat Glider, and Walrus Whizzer.

While the previous executions highlighted the brand’s broadband services, Trunk Trucker shifts focus to entertainment, positioning Virgin Media as a one-stop destination for the UK’s most popular channels and streaming platforms, including TNT Sports, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Disney+, and Netflix.

At the heart of the campaign is a high-energy, cinematic 60-second film directed by Andreas Nilsson of Biscuit Filmworks, with hyper-realistic CGI crafted by Untold Studios. Set to Laura Branigan’s classic track Self Control, the spot follows a mischievous elephant who commandeers a red truck and journeys from the countryside into the dazzling heart of Bangkok, drawn to the promise of bright city lights and endless entertainment. The playful narrative acts as a metaphor for the richness and scale of Virgin Media’s content offering, embodying the thrill of discovery and immersion.

Simon Valcarcel, Marketing Director at Virgin Media O2, said “Virgin Media is home to a breadth of unmissable entertainment across the UK’s most popular channels, apps and streaming services – from Sky Sports to Netflix and more, there’s something for everyone. Trunk Trucker brings that to life in a big, bold and memorable way, full of Virgin Media’s trademark energy and character.”

David Masterman, Executive Creative Director at VCCP, added “Promoting Virgin Media’s TV service gave us the perfect chance to have a bit more fun with the world we’ve built. This time, it’s the story of an opportunist elephant joyrider that leaves the countryside behind and heads into the city, because she’s heard it’s where all the best entertainment is. She’s as bold and unstoppable as the brand itself.”

The campaign is running nationwide across multiple channels including TV, video on demand, online, radio, out-of-home, and social media, with media strategy and planning led by MG OMD.

With Trunk Trucker, Virgin Media and VCCP continue to evolve the “To Better and Beyond” platform, marrying bold creative storytelling with Virgin Media’s growing portfolio of premium content—proving that entertainment with the brand is always larger than life.
