Digital: British Council launches online courses for creative professionals worldwide

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Starting 29 April 2021, creative professionals worldwide will have access to new online courses through the British Council’s Creative Communities Learning Lab. The platform offers self-led learning, designed with specific input from creative hub leaders and their communities in Southeast Asia and the UK.

The content is free, dynamic, easily accessible, and seeks to respond to the changing knowledge and skills needs of artists, creative entrepreneurs and cultural professionals all over the world.

The initiative identified three key themes that are highly in demand given today’s challenges: digital community strategy and management, ways to monetise services, and bringing training offers online.

‘It was wonderful to have worked with experts from Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and the UK. The diversity of their insights and experience has made Creative Communities Learning Lab a truly unique learning resource. We invite creative professionals across the world to take advantage of this opportunity and access the courses,’ says Julia Davies, British Council Interim Regional Arts Director, East Asia.

The British Council tapped the expertise of Creative Friction (UK) and Makerspace Manila (PH) for this undertaking. Additionally, 17 brilliant hub leaders from the UK and SEA were invited to be part of the project advisory board.

The initiative is supported by the British Council’s Creative Hubs for Good programme in Southeast Asia.

Creative Communities Learning Lab will be officially launched on 28 April through a virtual event. To know more, visit https://creativeconomy.britishcouncil.org/blog/21/04/07/launch-event-creative-communities-learning-lab/
