MENLO PARK, CALIFORNIA– Instagram is throwing back to its old-school polaroid icons in celebration of its 10th birthday as well as several versions of its current icon.

“I’m proud of where we are today, but I’m thinking a lot about where we’re going. Right now, we’re witnessing enormous shifts in how people create and enjoy culture,” said Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram in a statement.

Additionally, the platform is releasing additional features such as IGTV Shopping, and a private mapping of users’ stories.

Some of the milestones of its ten year journey were also highlighted such asthe first selfie uploaded to Instagram from space by austronaut Steven R. Swanson in 2014; Beyonce’s iconic pregnancy-reveal; and the world record-breaking egg that beat Kylie Jenner’s record of most like post on Instagram.

Mosseri added that there will be improvements to the app especially in messaging, and creating space for creators to make a living and for small businesses to sell products. He also affirmed that their keeping up with the pace will not deplete the community’s values.

“Through all these changes, our community will remain the heart of Instagram, and we’ll stay focused on keeping people safe and building new features that fight bullying, improve equity, address fairness, and help people feel supported,” explained Mosseri.
