Digital: Inquirer Podcasts and PumaPodcast Release “Super Random” to Celebrate Filipino 90s Culture

MANILA, Philippines– Inquirer Podcasts is launching “Super Random,” a new podcast about everything Pinoy pop culture that you’ve either forgotten, or are too embarrassed to admit you liked. Powered by pioneer PumaPodcast, the podcast will tap into the inner baduy of its listeners whether it is those ‘90s TV shows, Walang Tulugan with Kuya Germs, or even  reality shows and artista searches.

“In a time when we are flooded with all the content possible, Super Random picks out the truly fascinating, nostalgic and even prognosticating parts of our Pinoy pop culture,” says host Ruel S. De Vera, a self-confessed “super obsessive fanboy” and the literary editor of Inquirer Super.

“There’s nothing in the world like Pinoy pop culture, with its randomness, endurance and, most of all, its resonance,” he adds. “I wanted to do this podcast because, as an obsessive about useless things, I found there were many people of different ages who either remembered these things or knew nothing about them.”

Here you can unleash your inner baduy—or perhaps discover it for the first time. In season one of “Super Random,” listeners can look forward to discussions with actors, singers, and academics about teenybopper shows, dubbed cartoons, and foreign songs that only thrive in the Philippines.

“We hope our listeners will get a deep dose of the color, the diversity, and the identity of contemporary Filipino life,” says De Vera.

“Super Random” will be available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Anchor, and other podcast apps starting August 14. A new episode will be out every two weeks.
