BBH Asia Pacific launches Surf into key regional markets

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, AUGUST 19, 2010 – BBH Asia Pacific has launched a campaign for Surf – Unilever’s billion dollar global detergent brand – into South East Asia’s key regional markets.

Two television commercials will launch the brand in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The two commercials, "Sleepyheads" and "Making Of" feature new Surf laundry detergent and highlight the brand’s key selling point – fragrance.

With the use of the well-loved musical genre, both commercials share a global brand truth that great fragrance can bring a sense of delight and joy to the everyday.

While "Sleepyheads" (Indonesia, Malaysia) is about a mum using the refreshing fragrance of Surf to wake up her familiy, "Making Of" (Thailand) features magical little fairies who create a natural fragrant detergent to help a mum with her laundry.

“It is an exciting challenge to create work for regional brands that can be broad enough to exist across South East Asia whilst remaining locally relevant in each market. The aim of both ‘Sleepy Heads’ and ‘Making Of’ was to tap into universal insights that everyone can relate to, no matter where they are from.” said Frances Great, Managing Director, BBH Asia Pacific.

With its entrance into three key markets, this regional campaign launch marks Surf’s commitment to expanding its business in Asia.

SURF has grown consecutively over the last 3 years and in 2009 was Unilever’s fastest growing brand among their top 15 brands.

BBH Asia Pacific was appointed the business on SURF for South East Asia in 2009, further expanding its global remit on the brand.

BBH has been the global strategic Agency on the account since 2004, with creative responsibilities for Latin America, Europe, and Africa.
