Kuya Kim Atienza puts MOVE IT’s top standard Rider Onboarding to the test

MANILA, PHILIPPINES -In a unique demonstration of road safety advocacy, homegrown motorcycle taxi platform MOVE IT enlisted veteran journalist and avid motorcyclist Kuya Kim Atienza to personally undergo its stringent rider onboarding and certification process. The initiative underscores MOVE IT’s commitment to industry leading safety protocols and professional driver standards.

Known for his passion for motorcycles and dedication to public service, Kuya Kim immersed himself in MOVE IT’s six step onboarding program, proving that the platform’s signature Ka-MOVE IT gear is not earned without effort. Documented in a vlog posted on his official Facebook page, the experience revealed the meticulous measures each aspiring rider must pass before joining MOVE IT’s roster.

The onboarding process comprises:

Sponsor
  1. Document Screening – Applicants must present complete NBI, police and CIBI clearances, along with mandatory drug and health tests upon application and every six months thereafter.
  2. Vehicle Inspection – Motorcycles undergo thorough roadworthiness checks in compliance with the Motorcycle Taxi Pilot Study standards.
  3. Skills Assessment – Practical riding evaluations, including backriding drills, vehicle control and road-readiness tests, ensure drivers meet operational proficiency requirements.
  4. Training & Orientation – Classroom sessions cover road safety protocols, passenger service, and app navigation. Riders also undergo annual retraining.
  5. Account Activation – Rider accounts are activated only after successful completion of all previous steps.
  6. Gear Release – MOVE IT issues free, high grade safety gear as part of its mission to elevate the moto-taxi profession.

The verdict from Kuya Kim: even seasoned riders must work hard to meet MOVE IT’s standards.

Alongside this initiative, Kuya Kim introduced I-Sumbong Mo sa MOVE IT — a new feedback channel via Facebook Messenger that allows passengers to easily report safety related concerns and share their riding experiences. This complements existing feedback mechanisms, including in-app ratings and the “Report an Issue” feature.

Through this collaborative effort, MOVE IT reinforces its position as a leader in road safety, ensuring that every Ka-MOVE IT rider is equipped, trained and tested to deliver the highest quality of service to passengers nationwide.
