Unitel Productions presents the Virtual Set System

PHILIPPINES – "Do not come in green" was the event invitation’s stern order. But Unitel Production’s launch of the Virtual Set System (VSS)  at the New World Hotel on July 30, 2010 was anything but severe.

Comedian Jojo Alejar introduced the VSS, which integrates people and computer-generated backgrounds in real-time, giving rise to endless possibilities for audio-visual presentations. Violinist Jay Cayuca demonstrated the system’s abilities, including the creation of 3D spaces from the ground up and ensuring seamless movement between the green screen and the real-life talent.

Key features of the VSS include making small studios appear larger, avoiding the hassle of post-production and ensuring creative freedom in the creation of sets. It also takes away the fuss of building and storing sets. There are 16 virtual camera positions that allow shooting from different angles.

The VSS is already in use by the major broadcasting networks but is now available to the advertisers and corporate clients for the first time through Unitel. Among its application are TV shows, commercials, corporate events and major presentations.

As one of the country’s largest production outfits, Unitel has consistently been on the forefront of technology, offering the advertising industry one first after another. It is headed by the visionary Tony Gloria, who is reported to have acquired the VSS for a cool P13 million.
