Events: Bookshelf PH launches Kilig to the Books, a short story writing contest for romance fiction authors

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The contest, entitled Kilig to the Books, is calling for the best romance authors to submit their best 2,000 to 20,000-word short story. The lucky winners will be granted a full audiobook production package, one that includes manuscript development and preparation, recording at a top-of-the-line recording studio, casting of a professional voice actor or actress, and distribution through Bookshelf PH’s upcoming line of audiobooks. 

Bookshelf PH’s definition of romance fiction is broad. Contest entries can hail from any of its sub-genres, including contemporary romance, romantic comedy, historical romance, speculative romance, inspirational romance, young adult, and more. The works can also be written in English, Taglish, or Tagalog. 

This contest is perfect for any fiction writer, including everyone from Wattpad and pocketbook authors to undergraduate and graduate writing students. It’ll be a chance to get the distinction of having your

Interested authors may submit their short story to hello@bookshelf.com.ph beginning on May 24 and June 21, 2021. Early submissions are strongly encouraged – winners will be notified on a rolling basis through email and publicly announced on Bookshelf PH’s Facebook page.

There is no preference between unpublished and previously published work, though if the short story falls into the latter category, authors are encouraged to confirm that they hold the audiobook rights before submitting.
