LONDON, UK — Universal Pictures’ new Valentine’s Day film, “Marry Me,” starring Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, and Maluma, pays homage to Lopez’s days as the face of GUESS. In the film, Lopez plays musical superstar Kat Valdez and Owen Wilson plays Charlie Gilbert, a math teacher; total strangers who agree to marry and then get to know each other. “Marry Me” is a modern love story about a celebrity, marriage, and social media and an unlikely romance about two different people searching for something real in a world where value is based on likes and followers.
For Kat Valdez’s wardrobe in the film, director Kat Coiro and costume designer Caroline Duncan drew inspiration from Lopez’s actual career, incorporating a scene where Valdez is shooting a commercial for GUESS. The images of Valdez dressed almost entirely in GUESS product, from this shoot are later seen on a taxi advertisement in the film.
