Las Vegas Sphere secures spot in TIME’s Best Inventions Hall of Fame, cementing status as global landmark

LAS VEGAS, USA – The Sphere in Las Vegas, which opened in July 2023, has earned a spot in the TIME 100: Best Inventions Hall of Fame — an honor for the world’s most iconic and transformative inventions of the last 25 years.

According to TIME, the Sphere impresses with its 366-foot tall exterior — the world’s largest LED screen — and a 160,000 square feet curved interior screen paired with an advanced concert-grade audio system.

​The $2.3 billion Sphere quickly established itself as a global symbol of Las Vegas entertainment, hosting sold-out concerts by U2, Dead & Company, and the Backstreet Boys, as well as films and major sporting events like the NHL Draft and a UFC bout. It also features Sphere Experiences by top Hollywood creatives and other flagship events.

Dubbed a next-generation entertainment medium, the Sphere is redefining live entertainment through technologies that engage the senses and transport audiences to new realms.​In 2024, the Sphere led Billboard’s Top Venues chart by earning $420.5 million in ticket sales, the highest gross for any venue during that period.

​Meanwhile, Sphere Studios Senior/Group Creative Director Eric Cruz — a Filipino — expressed pride at the Sphere’s inclusion in the list, joining tech leaders such as the iPhone, YouTube, Large Hadron Collider, IBM Watson, Kickstarter, ChatGPT, and The Cronut.

​Eric, a seasoned creative in design, film, and technology, leads immersive projects for the venue.
