Tim Lindsay, Chairman of D&AD, comments: “Impact shines a light on work that puts people and the planet on a par with profit – campaigns, products and projects that are sustainable and ethical. This is the most pro-business message it is possible to send to our community. The only future is a sustainable one. Impact is our contribution to that future. This year’s shortlist yet again demonstrates the power of creativity to make change. Congratulations to all of those who have been shortlisted, and I look forward to seeing who goes on to earn an iconic D&AD Pencil at this year’s showcase.”

The shortlist was selected by the D&AD Impact Council, an esteemed group of business and thought leaders from across the creative, brand, investment, social impact, sustainability and NGO space.

Members of the D&AD Impact Council will assemble in New York on November 5 to review the shortlisted work and decide which is deserving of a Wood, Graphite, White and Black (the highest accolade that is reserved for truly groundbreaking work) Pencil. D&AD is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious global awards in advertising and design, with juries only selecting work they believe is truly exceptional.

D&AD has also announced the shortlisted entries for the Future Impact Awards, who are in the running to be part of the Future Impact programme which is designed to support great ideas that have the potential to change the world. Shortlisted entries include A Colourful Life, personalised colouring books for dementia patients, and Double Rainbow, a design for biodegradable condoms made with new hydrogel technology. Also decided by the Impact Council, the final cohort will be announced on October 23, receiving access to a fund worth $150,000 that includes an accelerator, consultancy, mentoring, visibility and grants. Collaboration with creativity and sustainability experts will help successful entrants bring their ideas to market and make their own impact through their world-changing work.

Shortlisted entrants will find out whether they have won a D&AD Pencil at the winners showcase, taking place at One Liberty Plaza, New York, on November 6.

Tickets to the showcase, along with details of all shortlisted work can be viewed on the D&AD Impact website: https://www.dandad.org/en/d-ad-impact/
