Arcade Film Factory, MullenLowe Treyna, VML Manila champs 17th Kidlat Awards with 5 golds; TBWA\SMP shines with 20 Kidlats

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – On May 9, The Fifth at Rockwell crackled with the raw energy of the 17th Kidlat Awards, a showcase of the Philippine ad industry’s sharpest work, organized by 4As Philippines and the Creative Guild.  

From a formidable pool of entries from the country’s diverse creative agencies, the Kidlat Awards jury, with a laser focus on work that truly embodied Filipino ingenuity and creative excellence, meticulously deliberated last May 6 at the Makati Diamond Residences in Makati City.

This distinguished panel comprised the Philippine ad industry’s sharpest creative leaders, alongside some of the APAC region’s most pioneering creative minds – Daniel Kee (Executive Creative Director of MullenLowe Singapore), Thasorn Boonyanate (Chief Creative Officer of BBDO Thailand), Peter Khoury (Chief Creative Officer of TBWA APAC), Subun Khow (Chief Creative Officer of Dentsu Thailand), Merlee Jayme (Chairmom and Founder of Jayme HQ), Teeny Gonzales (CEO of Seven A.D.), and Joao Braga (Global Executive Creative Director at Publicis Groupe).

The inaugural winners of the Young Kidlat Student Competition was also awarded by GCash. De La Salle University‘s Moving Fast With GCash takes home the Bronze Young Kidlat, Polytechnic University of the PhilippinesDeserve bags the Silver Young Kidlat, while MINT College‘s Kaya Ko Na brought home the Gold Young Kidlat.

Also recognized and awarded last evening were the winners of the Young Spikes and Young Lions competitions. In Young Spikes, NJYN’s Go Estargo and Very Lorenzana won Bronze, Leo Manila’s Gianina Azores and Chili Ramon took Silver, and Propel Manila’s Jacob Banog and Michaela Macalinao clinched Gold — with the Gold-winning team set to attend the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.

Meanwhile, in Young Lions, Bronze went to PublicisJimenezBasic’s Catch Madrid and Josh Laxamana, Silver to Woo’s Irijah De Leon and Jake Sans Relano, and Gold to VML Manila’s Hennina Salud and John Cedric Peji, who will be representing the country at the annual Young Lions competition in Cannes.

VML Manila was named Kidlat Agency of the Year for the second consecutive year, reinforcing their status as one of the country’s leading creative agencies. Sharing the spotlight were Nestlé Philippines Inc., awarded Kidlat Advertiser of the Year; Hit Productions, recognized as the Kidlat Audio Production House of the Year; and Arcade, honored as the Kidlat Film Production House of the Year.

190 Kidlat trophies were handed out, recognizing the industry’s cutting-edge: 110 Bronze, 52 Silver, and 28 Gold, culminating in the coveted Kidlat Sinag and the night’s ultimate triumph, the Grand Kidlat Award.
