Cannes Lions 2017: Media Lions winners announced, R/GA New York’s ‘Innovating Saving’ wins Grand Prix while Y&R Philippines’ ‘Liter Lottery’ earns Bronze Lion

CANNES – There were a total of 95 metals handed out for Media Lions at the 2017 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The Grand Prix was won by R/GA out of New York for their ‘Innovating Saving’ campaign for new American-based online retailer Jet.com. The agency used Jet.com’s innovative approach to saving and found fun and effective ways to save at every consumer touch point.

Only nine Gold Lions were distributed, none of which came from Asia. Out of 28 Silver Lions, Havas Singapore’s ‘You know the queen, now meet Elizabeth’ for Netflix from Singapore (twice), and OMD Singapore’s ‘Restaurant capacity-based advertising for McDelivery’ for McDonald’s also out of Singapore were the only three to win from Asia.

A total of 58 Bronze Lions were won. Y&R Philippines’ ‘Liter Lottery,’ created for Chevron Philippines (a.k.a. Caltex) won a Bronze Lion for Asia. Also winning Bronze Lions from the region are Dentsu Inc. Tokyo’s ‘Mr. Sniff’ for Lotte Co. Ltd. from Japan, McCann Worldgroup Mumbai’s ‘Paytm Sweet Change’ for Paytm from India, Ifeng.com’s ‘The Tape Pledge’ for Suning from China (twice), McCann Worldgroup Mumbai’s ‘Afghan Immunity Charm’ for the Ministry of Public Health, Islamic State of Afghanistan from India. That’s a total of six Bronze Lions for Asia.
