Cannes Lions 2019: 12 Asian Countries, 16 Asian Agencies Make the Cut in Sustainable Development Goals Lions Shortlist

The final shortlist for Cannes Lions 2019 has been released today, 20 June 2019! The Sustainable Development Goals Lions is the only category under the Good track. The finalists for this category have gone beyond brand purpose to use branded communications as a way to make the world a better place.

In the Sustainable Development Goals Lions shortlist, 12 countries from Asia got in: China, Bangladesh, South Korea, Israel, Pakistan, India, Russia, Turkey, Japan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, and Singapore.

The Asian ad agencies that got into the shortlist are as follows: AIRBNB China Beijing (1), Grey Bangladesh Dhaka (3), INNORED Seoul (1), Cheil Pengtai Beijing (1), Gitam BBDO Tel Aviv (1), BBDO Pakistan Lahore (1), FCBUlka Delhi (1), Leo Burnett Moscow (1), SOC Films Karachi (1), Havas Istanbul (1), Dentsu Inc. Tokyo (1), DDB Mudra Mumbai (2), TBWA\Hakuhodo Inc. Tokyo (1), BBDO Bangkok (1), Ogilvy Singapore (1), Impact BBDO Dubai (1) with 19 shortlisted entries from Asia all in all.

Grey Bangladesh got into the shortlist with three entries for their “UCB AgroBanking” campaign, an initiative that enables rural farmers to save for the future.

While DDB Mudra Mumbai’s “Project Free Period,” a campaign to help commercial sex workers in India step out of the trade one period at a time, snagged two spots in the shortlist.
