Carbon Digital bags 12 metals, makes history with dual major nominations at the 21st Philippine Quill Awards

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Carbon Digital marked another milestone at the 21st Philippine Quill Awards with 4 Excellence Awards and 8 Merit Awards, solidifying its place as one of the country’s leading creative and communications agencies.

For the second consecutive year, Carbon Digital earned a nomination for Agency of the Year. This year, it also added a Company of the Year nomination — making it the first entrant in Philippine Quill Awards history to receive nominations in both categories in the same competition year.

“This recognition is not just about the number of awards we’ve won,” said Jay Anthony Chiu, Co-Founder, President, and General Manager of Carbon Digital. “It’s a reflection of how we partner with institutions that make life better for Filipinos, whether it’s through public service campaigns, science communication, or sustainability initiatives.”

Championing government communication

Carbon Digital’s biggest wins came from its partnerships with government agencies that sought to reach Filipinos with meaningful and life-changing information.

For the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS Regulatory Office), Carbon Digital received an Excellence Award in the Audio/Visual category for the MWSS Regulatory Office Water Conservation Campaign (WCC) and Desludging Awareness Campaign (DAC). Through engaging social media graphics and videos, the campaign encouraged water conservation during the El Niño phenomenon and reminded Metro Manila consumers of their right to free desludging services. The campaign also took home a Merit Award in the Social Media category.

The DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) partnered with Carbon Digital for STARBOOKS Live Quiz, which won two Excellence Awards in Social Media and Audio/Visual categories. The innovative quiz show rekindled Filipinos’ love for science, allowing the public to join in real-time for a chance to win prizes. Carbon Digital also bagged a Merit Award for Siyensikat: Pinoy Popular Science Para Sa Lahat – Season 4, a TV show featuring 13 episodes that

spotlighted innovations funded by DOST, including coral reef rehabilitation in Marinduque, a Philippine-developed herbal treatment for dengue symptoms, and a portable smartphone-to-microscope device.

Sustainability and everyday stories with Nature’s Spring

Carbon Digital’s long-time partner, Philippine Spring Water Resources, Inc. (Nature’s Spring), also contributed to the agency’s wins.

The Ilaw ng Bukas (Light of Tomorrow) Christmas Promo won an Excellence Award for encouraging Filipinos to recycle and upcycle PET bottles by turning them into parol, or traditional Filipino lanterns. A Merit Award went to Natatanging Serbisyo (Exceptional Service), a Labor Day video honoring the working class braving extreme summer heat. Carbon Digital also received two more Merit Awards for

Summer 2024 Hydration 101 Reels, which used man-on-the-street interviews to encourage hydration during hotter summers.

“What excites us most about these wins is how each campaign has a bigger purpose,” added Chiu. “Whether it’s sparking love for science, promoting sustainability, or supporting our workers, and promoting the Philippines as a destination of choice for retirees, the work we do is always rooted in impact.”

Celebrating partnerships

The awards night, held last August 27, 2025, at The Manila Hotel’s Fiesta Pavilion, was also an evening of shared success. Carbon Digital was joined by partners and supporters, including MWSS Regulatory Office Chief Regulator Atty. Patrick Lester Ty and Public Information Department Manager Joan Michelle Antonio; DOST-STII Information Resources and Analysis Division Chief Alan Taule and DOSTv ExperTalk host Gel Miranda; and PRA Promo Division Chief Atty. Roela Dela Peña, in receiving the awards from IABC Philippines.

“We dedicate these recognitions to our partners who trust us with their stories, and to our Carbon Digital team whose creativity and heart fuel everything we do,” Chiu said. “This milestone inspires us to keep pushing boundaries, telling stories that matter, and creating campaigns that drive real change.”
