MANILA, AUGUST 18, 2013 – Globe Telecom is extending help to victims of Typhoon Labuyo through donations via GCash, which will be turned over to relief operations by government and non-government organizations.
There will be corresponding channels for the most active relief assistance centers such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), and Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB).
DSWD works to provide the basic necessities for the victims, while PNRC delivers life-saving services for helpless situations. Through the E-Ugnay program online map of SLB, rescuing and distribution of goods will be easier because affected areas are easily recognized.
Globe subscribers can make donations by texting the following:
For DSWD: Text DONATE <space> AMOUNT <space> MPIN <space> DSWD send to 2882
For PNRC: Text DONATE <space> AMOUNT <space> MPIN <space> REDCROSS send to 2882
For SLB: Text DONATE <space> AMOUNT <space> MPIN <space> SLB send to 2882
Globe Corporate Social Responsibility OIC’s Fernando Esguerra says: “We hope that through our GCASH facility, it would be easier and more convenient for our subscribers to help alleviate the condition of our fellow citizens who are currently suffering from lack of food, water, clothing, and shelter. We are also enjoining everyone to spread the word to their families and friends so that more aid could be provided to Labuyo victims. Even small amounts could go a long way.”
