Kode signs London-based director Caleb Femi

LONDON, UK — KODE continues on its trajectory of exciting announcements with the signing of London-based director, filmmaker, and writer, Caleb Femi. The hybrid talent joins the production studio ahead of their 10th Birthday celebrations which kick start this month and last into October.

A widely successful writer and poet, in 2016, Caleb was named London’s first Young Poet Laureate. He worked to connect and engage with marginalized, disenfranchised young people through the medium of poetry, encouraging them to voice their experiences through a dedicated platform. Caleb’s debut book, entitled POOR won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Caleb was on the Dazed100 list of the next generation of creators shaping youth culture.

“I am incredibly excited by this new collaboration with KODE, and absolutely love the strong visual identity they have in everything they do,” Caleb said.

Caleb has worked with some of the biggest and most recognized global brands, notably directing Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter 2022 collection film for the last collection designed by their creative director, Virgil Abloh before his passing. He has also made films for Mulberry, TikTok, Bottega Veneta, and NCS. In addition, Femi has directed episodes for the BBC and for the HBO series “Industry,” and has written and directed short films for the BBC and Channel 4.

Caleb has irrevocably achieved the status of a hybrid creative talent; using his passion for words to inform his film and photography projects. Constantly evolving as creative with every new piece of work, Caleb is undefined by a particular style or aesthetic, instead, taking inspiration from an idea or brief and letting this inspire him.

“Caleb is constantly contributing his creative excellence across multiple mediums, be that on stage at Glastonbury with Kano performing poetry, on set making films and taking photos, or in the panel for this year’s Saatchi New Creators Showcase in Cannes. For that reason, we feel incredibly lucky to have Caleb join our roster,” said Alex Harman, CEO of KODE.
