On April 10, 2026, in a virtual room of hand-picked creatives and media partners from all corners of the globe, a palpable sense of excitement could be felt through the screen as Canva prepared for its biggest launch yet. After the colorful countdown (made with Canva, of course) ticked down the seconds to the exclusive presentation, we were welcomed by Canva’s top executives: Co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins; Co-founder and COO Cliff Obrecht; and Co-founder and CPO Cameron Adams.
The leaders took us through how Canva has grown since launching in 2013. As of writing, Canva has over a quarter of a billion monthly users — making it one of the most widely used platforms on the internet. It’s also the third most-used AI product in the world. This insight has given Canva a distinct edge in serving its customers, helping propel it ahead in the AI competition.
Behold: Canva AI 2.0.
While other AI platforms mostly function as large language models (LLM) and can only process text, Canva AI 2.0 is designed to help people across multiple tasks, all centered around creativity and productivity. Need a scheduled monthly newsletter? Canva can do that. Need poster designs that adhere to a specific visual identity? Canva can do that. Need to take apart layers in a static image for editing? Canva can do that. Need a sales pitch or a business proposal based on web research? Yep, you guessed it. Canva can do that, and so much more.
A new way to play
The first set of Canva AI 2.0 functions is under what the company calls the “architecture layer.” Here, the entire design process is reimagined with a plethora of fresh features.

Canva AI’s Agentic Orchestration unlocks AI that works with you.

Conversational Design brings ideas to life from natural language prompts or dictation. Just describe an idea, goal, or rough structure, and Canva AI generates a fully editable design with structure, brand, and layout from the start.
Describe a goal, share a rough sketch, or provide a brief, and Canva AI brings it to life through a single conversation with Agentic Orchestration. Behind the scenes, a new orchestration layer brings together Canva’s full suite of tools to turn ideas into complete outcomes.

Object-Based Intelligence allows you to change something precisely, without affecting anything else. Swap an image, adjust a headline, or refine a font, and only those things change.
Living Memory allows Canva AI to grow with you. It learns from your work and adapts to your and your team’s preferences and goals. You can personalize it with your existing designs to generate a custom memory library and an “About Me” profile that continuously tailors your experience.
All you need, all in one place
The other equally brilliant half of new functions that Canva AI 2.0 brings is under the platform’s “intelligent new workflows,” where the platform goes beyond design generation to become the system at the center of how work gets done. It brings everything you’ll need for productivity together in one place, unifying tools, workflows, and outputs to supercharge everyday work.
Instead of being scattered across dozens of apps, Canva AI’s Connectors bring everything together, so you have everything you need to create in one place. By connecting different tools and apps, Canva AI can draw on your conversations, content, and schedule to create exactly what you need. Initial connectors include Slack, Notion, Zoom, HubSpot, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar, with more to come.
Work on autopilot with Canva AI’s Scheduling feature. Set tasks once, and the platform runs them automatically in the background, even while you’re offline. One example of how to use this is to have Canva AI scan your emails each morning and create briefing documents for your upcoming meetings based on your calendar. Get work done in the background in seconds and save yourself hours of effort.

The new Web Research function brings insights directly into your work. Run research on demand or schedule it in the background, and Canva AI gathers and structures information from across the web as structured, editable content.
Brand Intelligence ensures every design starts and remains on-brand. Just connect your data or describe what you need, and Canva AI automatically applies your fonts, colors, and style to every design. You can also update existing work by asking Canva AI to apply your latest brand.
The last feature introduced in the presentation was possibly the most mind-blowing one: Canva Code 2.0 with HTML Importing. With this, you can describe any interactive idea, and Canva AI builds a complete, responsive experience that’s structured, interactive, and designed to work across every device. Bring any HTML file or AI-generated experience into Canva and edit it with Canva’s visual editor. Add forms that collect responses in Canva Sheets, drop interactive elements into presentations, or publish to your own domain with SSO protection.
The new Sheets AI instructs Canva AI to generate a fully structured, beautifully-designed sheet, populated with real data and research. From budget trackers to project timelines, content calendars to research tables, your sheet arrives structured, designed, and with all of the right data.
Canva AI 2.0 introduces an endless source of inspiration with Template Remix. Start with any ready-made template that catches your eye, then make it your own with Canva AI.
Be one of the first to experience Canva AI 2.0
Canva AI 2.0 was launched as a research preview on April 16, and it will be rolling out to the first one million people who discover it on the Canva homepage. From there, access will expand progressively to more users over the weeks ahead.
As the demand for productivity and creativity increases, so too does the need for AI tools that can take some of the load off our shoulders. With millions of people already utilizing Canva’s platform, the new Canva AI 2.0 can be expected to seamlessly make day-to-day tasks easier and better.
