Mark Ingrouille to leave McCann Worldgroup end of February 2010

Tokyo – McCann Worldgroup announced today that Mark Ingrouille; Area Director, South East Asia, will be leaving McCann Worldgroup effective end of February 2010, to pursue other opportunities. Ingrouille has been working with McCann Worldgroup for the last ten years in a variety of key roles in Thailand, Singapore and in the Southeast Asia region. To ensure a smooth transition, Ingrouille will continue at McCann Worldgroup working closely with McLaren through February.

The news surprised many in the advertising community, and perhaps even Ingrouille himself, when it was announced last Friday.

In a separate email to adobo magazine, Ingrouille said he now focused on enjoying the holidays with his family.

Of his time in McCann Worldgroup,  he said, "I’ve always been a builder and it’s great to see where we are now. We’re leaders in Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand and strong challengers in Indonesia and Singapore. Coming up. There was strong growth in all the markets."

His statement hinted at the difficulties that might have led to his exit. "I’ve been working with McCann for the last ten years. Every one of those years has been great. Even the tough ones like this last year, which has been very draining."

But he bore no apparent ill will towards McCann. "I am so lucky to have been supported at every level by very special people who worked with their hearts as much as their intellect, who sacrificed personal time and ambition for the common success. Thank you for the faith, perseverance, loyalty and above all, the friendship you have given me. I will always treasure it.

"I’m sure that with the strong leadership in place, the company will continue to prosper."

Michael McLaren, Regional Director of McCann Worldgroup Asia Pacific said "Mark has made a great contribution to our business in the South East Asia region over a long period of time. He has helped us to create the McCann Worldgroup structure in the region, build our disciplines, and nurture strong client relationships. As we see the marketplace continue to evolve, we are going to increasingly focus resources at the local market level. We are lucky that we have an excellent management team already in place in the region who will be able to keep driving the agency forward. We wish Mark all the best in his future endeavors."

Monica White, Managing Director McCann Thailand, will continue to lead the business in Thailand in her current role. Tony Savarimuthu, CEO of McCann Malaysia, will also oversee Singapore in an interim capacity in advance of the announcement of a permanent successor in the near future. The role of South East Asia Area Director will not be replaced and the Agency managers in the Area will now report directly into McLaren.
