Not your ordinary design company, Vgrafiks pushes CSR and youth development

It’s not that common for a design company to be catalysts of social change.  But for Vgrafiks, well, the notion is not for show.  Describing themselves as an eclectic mix of creative designers, new kids on the block Vgrafiks also call themselves social entrepreneurs and brand strategists.

Developed by owners-graphic designers Russel Vergara and Christian Chan, Vgrafiks include Missy Rivera, photographer and Isa Afable, illustrator.  Young entrepreneurs (Vergara is 25 and Chan is 27), the two attended university in the United Kingdom.  Vergara studied Digital Media and Marketing in London, while Chan completed Marketing and Business Management in Middlesex.

As the Vgrafiks website states: Being in a developing country means there are plenty of opportunities to do better. We want to improve lives by advocating sustainable growth; all carried out with a strong sense of responsibility.

Mired in the mindset, Corporate Social Responsibility was naturally the foundation by which the Vgrafiks partnership was built.  “ The CSR was integral to our advocacy of providing sustainable business ideas,” Vergara declares.  “When we started, we both wanted to share our life experiences with local business, using design and branding as a tool to be globally competitive,” he adds.

Vgrafiks helped with the Starbucks Sparkhope 2008 CSR development program.  The design company also did work for DMMC Institute of Health Sciences.

Perhaps it’s their young age and the idealism that goes hand-in-hand with it, but, another item that sets Vgrafiks apart is a commitment to the youth. Since their school days, the duo shared the dream of starting a school for young creatives, and with Vgrafiks, they have done it.  The design company stared The Farm where potential artists can hone their talents to lean towards a role for the benefit of society.
