Four Days to Countdown for Collision Theory

As a promising Art Director at Ogilvy One, he dabbled with shirt design on the side. Eventually, he realized the dabbling was looking as lucrative, and he took the plunge. AJ Dimarucot became a freelance t-shirt designer and called himself Collision Theory.  Soon, he was winning designs and his portfolio was looking impressive as well.  Well-known, international alternative bands, which he admits total ignorance of, commissioned him to design their shirts.

In 2008, Dimarucot won the international t-shirt design contest sponsored by designbyhumans.com. Perhaps inspired by his success, a significant number of Filipino designers are in the running this year.  “I’m proud to announce that out of the ten finalists, four are Filipinos, and now there are two in the last four. I’m happy to say I am one of those 2,” said Dimarucot.

The original top 20 designs were chosen from over 500 entries by a panel of judges based on creativity, originality, and ingenuity.  For the final ten, judging will be fan-based.  Yes, the one with the most popularity votes, wins.

“My design, entitled "Twilight Rain" is dedicated to my wife and is inspired by her obsession with the movie (“Twilight”).  I also wanted to use the shirt as canvas for my art and create a feeling of looking up into the sky,” he added.
