HBO Originals in Asia to premiere within one week of their US debut

MANILA – October 22, 2013 – As part of its ongoing anti-piracy efforts, HBO Asia has announced that from November, new HBO Originals will premiere in Asia within one week of their debut in the United States. 
 
“By narrowing the gap to within one week of a premiere shown in the U.S. and Asia, fans of HBO Originals in Asia will now be able to enjoy new series and new seasons of their favorite award-winning programs such as Game of Thrones, Girls, The Newsroom, True Blood and Veep on HBO Asia’s bouquet of channels much sooner. This applies also to Cinemax Original Series like Banshee and Strike Back, as well as HBO Original Movies and HBO Documentaries,” Magdalene Ew, Head, Marketing, Creative and Content, HBO Asia, said in a press release.
 
“Bringing forward the HBO and Cinemax Originals premieres in Asia is vital in HBO Asia’s on-going efforts against piracy,” she added. 
 
HBO Asia subscribers across 23 territories will be able to enjoy watching premieres of HBO Original productions within one week of their airing in the U.S., starting with the HBO Original Movie, Mike Tyson – Undisputed Truth (premieres Sunday November 24, 10 p.m. on HBO Signature), followed by HBO Original Series, Getting On (premieres Sunday December 1, 10 p.m. on HBO Signature), Ja’mie Private School Girl (premieres Sunday December 1, 10.30 p.m. on HBO Signature), and Treme Season 4 (premieres Sunday December 8, 11 p.m. on HBO Signature).  
 
Brand new HBO and Cinemax Originals coming to HBO Asia’s bouquet of channels in 2014 include True Detective starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson; The Normal Heart starring Julia Roberts, Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer and Jim Parsons; The Knick starring Clive Owen; and Olive Kitteridge starring Frances McDormand and Richard Jenkins, all of which will premiere in Asia within one week of their broadcast in the United States.
