MANILA’S AD AGENCIES CALL IT A NIGHT FOR LADY GAGA

Online gossip maven Perez Hilton calls her the Princess of All Media. He may as well have added “and Advertising” as Lady GaGa’s one night in Manila Drew people from media, fashion, entertainment and oh, advertising, too.

At the press conference before the concert, the pop’s newest royalty arrived in a stunning beige outfit with gold embellishments and a black, cone-shaped headdress. At the sight of her, the entire room went, you know…gaga. Her infectious aura quickly dispelled the anxiety the press displayed after waiting two hours.

During the press briefing, adobo magazine asked her about her outrageous sexy persona: Doesn’t her distinct branding overshadow her otherwise excellent musical skills?

“I’m not hiding anything, and certainly I’m not branding myself. I believe in a glamorous life, and I live a glamorous life,” said the candid GaGa.

“My album “The Fame” is about intrinsic fame. It’s penniless, camera-less and has no agenda. I want everyone in the world to be just like what my friends in New York feel. We’re famous without anyone telling us we are,” she added.

At her concert later that evening, she was the envy of every brand manager in town. Wearing a dress made out of bubbles and playing on an equally bubbly piano (you have to be there to appreciate it), she shocked and enthralled an audience that included celebrities and nobodies; prepubescent kids and their scandalized parents; men, women and every gender in between.

Even the normally blasé advertising crowd was there, screaming to their jaded hearts’ delight. They were pretty easy to spot, next to the Jonas Brothers crowd.
