Top companies and PR agencies vie for the highest honors at the Philippine Quill Awards

MANILA – The country’s top corporation, communication agencies, online publishers, and schools vie for the top honors in the Philippine Quill Awards, the country’s most prestigious and comprehensive awards in business communication, to be held on May 17, 2016 at The Marriott Grand Ballroom.

The International Association of Business Communicators Philippines has announced the final nominees for the Top Awards as well as the Company, Agency, and School of the Year.

The nominees for the Top Award in the Communication Management, which includes strategic communication planning and execution of internal, external, and integrated programs, are ABS-CBN Corporation (Pope Thank You sa Malasakit), British American Tobacco (Every Peso, Every Minute), Manila Water Company (Lingap para sa Katutubo: Satisfying the Thirst for Clean Water Supply in Boracay’s Ati Community), Smart Communications Inc. (SWEEP Awards: Inspiring Innovations in Schools), and Unilever Philippines (Communities for Equality and Dignity: Domex and the One Million Clean Toilets Movement to End Unhealthy Sanitation Habits).

Competing for Top Award in the Communication Skills division, which covers technical skills such as writing, design, and multimedia production showcased in marketing and communication campaigns, are ABS-CBN Corporation (e-Frequency Relaunch), Ayala Corporation (Ayala Beats@180: Dedicated People Fuel Past, Present, Future Success), Jollibee Foods Corporation (We are Chickenjoy Nation), Mommy Mundo (#MomManifesto: Journey to Mindful Motherhood), and Shell Companies in the Philippines (Driving Innovation at Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2015).

Aiming to be the first to bag the Top Award in Communication Research, which recognizes the importance of research and measurement as a foundation for strategic communication work, are Eon The Stakeholder Relations Groups with two entries (Groundswell, social listening tool for PR practitioners; The 2014 Philippine Trust Index), and the Manila Electric Company with three entries (Energy Efficiency as a Help; Meralco Biz Partners Thematic Campaign Pre-Ad Testing; and SPARK Communication Research).

Universities and colleges across the country are also competing in the Philippine Student Quill Awards, the junior version of the Quill that honors outstanding communication work by students. Nominees for the Top Award include two from Colegio de San Juan de Letran (Send a Child to School; Sukat), Holy Angel University (Paragala: The Central Luzon Media Awards), and two from University of Santo Tomas (Botomasino: A Special Coverage of the UST Student Council Elections; The Varsitarian: Papal Visit Infographics).

The Top Award is given to entries with the highest score among Excellence Awardees per division. Organizations, agencies, and schools with the most Excellence Awards are also awarded with Company, Agency, and School of the Year.

The nominees for Company of the Year are ABS-CBN Corporation, Manila Electric Company (MERALCO), PLDT, Smart Communications, Inc., and Unilever Philippines.

Battling to be Agency of the Year are DDB Tribal Worldwide Philippines, EON The Stakeholder Relations Group, Ogilvy PR Manila – Pulse Communications, PTFJ Ad Consult, and Stratworks.

Vying for School of the Year, on the other hand are Angelicum College, Bataan Peninsula State University, Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde, and University of Santo Tomas.

IABC Philippines is the first chapter outside North America of the international IABC, a global network of around 15,500 business communicators in 80 countries. The IABC presents the Gold Quill Awards, considered as the global standard in business communication.
