Y&R Philippines names Rey Tiempo as Chief Creative Officer

MANILA — Y&R today announced the appointment of Rey Tiempo as the new Chief Creative Officer of Y&R Philippines.

A copywriter by discipline, Rey has more than 15 years industry experience, having worked on and produced effective and award-winning campaigns for the biggest local, regional and global brands, ranging from automotive, retail, food & beverage, to electronics, beauty, wellness and various advocacies. Having ranked as the Philippines’ number 1 Creative Director, Rey is consistently named among the region’s hottest creatives.

Rey has spent the last 3 years as ECD at Dentsu Philippines / Jayme Syfu, helping reinvigorate the agency’s creative reputation, winning at Cannes and Campaign Agency of the Year, and growing clients’ businesses and the agency’s revenue by almost 40%. His aim is to reject the boundaries traditionally imposed on advertising, and has embarked on a mission to inspire clients and fellow agency folks in bringing back the feeling of wonder to tech.

Tiempo looks forward to bringing his boundary- breaking enthusiasm to Y&R Philippines, “I am brimming with excitement to be part of a network that lives by the words ‘Resist the Usual’, which has always been my sole guiding principle in life. These are thrilling times to be in advertising, and especially in Y&R, as we ditch discipline distinctions for truly integrated creative solutions for our clients.”

Tiempo will work in close partnership with Y&R Philippines Chief Executive Officer Onat Roldan, also a keen advocate of full integration. “It’s our network mission to achieve the sweet-spot where creativity, strategy & data and technology meet, and Rey is the ideal creative partner as we work together to helm Y&R Philippines towards that goal.

Tiempo’s move to Y&R Philippines came after a series of movements in the agency’s leadership which saw former executive creative director Herbert Hernandez and former chief creative officer Badong Abesamis leaving the company to set up their own outfit and Onat Roldan taking over the chief executive officer position from Randy Aquino.
