FOX International Channels announces Asia’s first online player for Pay-TV subscribers

ASIA-PACIFIC – OCTOBER 31, 2011: Available only to subscribers, FOX Movies Premium Play takes pay-TV to the next level, enabling viewers to watch more content than ever “on the go”.

FOX International Channels (FIC) today announced FOX Movies Premium  Play, Asia’s first online pay-TV streaming platform. FOX Movies Premium Play, which will be available only to pay-TV subscribers of FOX Movies Premium, will feature a wide variety of content, including blockbuster movies,  big-budget series, major live events, sophisticated documentaries and much more.

FOX Movies Premium Play is being launched in conjunction with FOX Movies Premium, a new flagship channel that builds on STAR Movies’ success and leadership in Asia. It underscores FIC’s commitment to further strengthening its leading position in the entertainment genre. FOX Movies Play will be available only to FOX Movies Premium subscribers and will enable them to watch their favorite content on a wide variety of devices—first on PCs, then on tablets and smartphones and eventually all broadband
connected devices.

"FOX Movies Premium Play will break the chains that used to tie us to our living room televisions and take content wherever people want to watch it," said Zubin Gandevia, Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, FOX International Channels. FOX Movies Premium Play is the first online platform in Asia allowing subscribers to get pay-TV content on-the-go, including blockbuster movies,  big-budget series to major live events and leading documentaries.

FOX Movies Premium Play has numerous social elements built into it that allow users to share previews, recommend content, leave comments and otherwise interact with other viewers  online,  potentially driving viral interest  in pay-TV channel content.

FIC recently launched the same online player in Latin America with great success. The average time per session spent on the player has been almost twice the average time per viewing session spent on linear TV, and the viewership of the linear channel has increased since the launch of player—indicating that the online player can drive increases in subscriptions, viewership and affinity to the TV channel.
