CANNES, FRANCE — In a landmark move set to elevate the global presence of Filipino cinema, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and France’s Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC) officially signed the Philippine-France Cinematographic Co-Production Agreement on May 14, 2025, during the 78th Cannes International Film Festival.

The treaty enables film, television, and video projects co-produced by companies from both nations to be recognized as national productions in each country. This designation allows them to access local incentives, funding, and support mechanisms, fostering a more robust and collaborative film industry between the two countries.
The agreement was signed by FDCP Chairman and CEO, Jose Javier Reyes and CNC President, Gaëtan Bruel on May 14, 2025 at the CNC Pavillion. The signing was witnessed by the Philippine ambassador to France, Ambassador Junever Mahilum-West.

The agreement, in development since 2019, aims to enhance creative and economic collaboration between the two nations. It opens opportunities for joint film, television, and video projects, while fostering cultural exchange and expanding distribution avenues.
This milestone marks a significant step in the FDCP’s ongoing efforts to position Philippine cinema on the international stage, providing Filipino filmmakers with greater access to global markets and collaborative ventures.
