Philippine Graphic Design Awards 2011 finalists announced

THE PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 25, 2011: The 2nd Philippine Graphic Design Awards is in high gear with release of its finalists. The judging process held last October 1 at CO.LAB in Makati concluded with 24 finalists from among student and professional entries. Winners will be revealed on November 5, 2011 at the Decagon in Silver City, Ortigas. The PGDA show is open to the public and tickets are currently on sale at discounted prices via PGDAwards.com.  
 
PGDA Program Director Ritchie Baquirin offered some insight, “We received fewer entries this year as compared to last year but the quality has undoubtedly improved. Looks like designers are taking PGDA more seriously.”  
 
BBDO Guerrero, McCann Worldgroup Philippines and Rain Creative Lab Design captured 11 of the 17 finalists in the Professional category. Seven entries from female designers are shortlisted in the  Student category.

This year’s Head of Jury and Executive Creative Director of Lowe Philippines, Leigh Reyes, shared, “There were many good entries but we were very tough on the selection of finalists. We awarded innovative ideas, thoughtful designs, and impressive execution.”
 
Judge Nico Puertollano of 27+20 design studio added, “The student entries were the highlight. You’ll see what I mean when the winners are revealed at the show.”  
 
Aside from the C, M, Y and K trophies, an adobo magazine trophy will be awarded to the people’s choice as determined through online voting until October 31, 6pm. Cast your vote here.
