CNN veteran Armie Jarin-Bennet joins Philippine bureau

MANILA – CNN Philippines Officer-In-Charge Jorge Sanagustin announced on Monday that CNN veteran Armie Jarin-Bennet is joining the bureau as Executive Vice President and Managing Editor starting on November 2nd.

“CNN Philippines is ready to move forward with Ms. Armie Jarin-Bennet at the helm. It is with pride that we bring back our kababayanand welcome her into our fold,” said Sanagustin.

She brings with her 18 years of broadcasting experience in the network’s offices in the US and Hong Kong, and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Coverage of a Current News Story – Long Format for CNN’s coverage of the revolution in Egypt which she won in 2012.

Jarin-Bennet was born and raised in Manila. Before moving to Atlanta, she worked as a radio newscaster for a local station. Now, a seasoned journalist, Jarin-Bennet started small. In 1996, she worked at CNN’s main headquarters as an intern. After a year, she became a production assistant for Headline News and quickly went up the ladder as writer and producer. Four years after joining CNN, she was transferred to CNN International as a news producer, and after another four years as a supervising producer. In 2008, she was promoted to executive producer in charge of daily newsroom operations in Atlanta and production work across international bureaus.

In 2013, she became part of CNN International Commercial where she served as Executive Director of CNN Content Sales and Partnerships in Asia Pacific, in coordination with Turner’s Networks & Content Distribution Team.
