ASIA-PACIFIC – BEIJING, CHINA, OCTOBER 25, 2011: OgilvyOne today announced that Daniel Tao has rejoined the Ogilvy Group as Vice President of OgilvyOne Beijing. Based in the capital, Tao will drive business development efforts across China by helping clients to find creative and effective ways of incorporating the latest digital, direct and interactive technologies and services into their marketing strategies.

As Vice President, Tao will help chart the agency’s strategic direction across China markets, develop digital, mobile and CRM offerings and oversee accounts for several domestic and international brands including Audi, Canon, Kappa, Intel and COFCO.

With an interdisciplinary background in both the public and private sectors, Tao returns to Ogilvy following a three-year stint as Business Director at wwwins Isobar and five years in the banking industry with HSBC and Westpac in New Zealand. Tao initially joined Ogilvy Beijing in 1993 as an account executive in O&M Advertising; in 1999 he transferred to OgilvyOne. Over the course of his 8 years with the agency he became a key contributor to the growth of OgilvyOne’s interactive marketing business.

Angel Chen, currently Managing Director of OgilvyOne Beijing, said, “We’re thrilled that Daniel is returning to the Ogilvy family as he helped to lay the early foundations of OgilvyOne Beijing. With a strong business background and years of experience working in in-house roles in the international banking sector he will be a real asset for our clients and business development efforts.”

Commenting on his new position, Tao said, “I came back to Ogilvy because it offers the most integrated communications platform and is one of the strongest agencies in China.

Returning a decade later I’m also very happy to find the inspiring and creative company culture still in tact and to see so many familiar faces which make this a true homecoming.”

Tao’s appointment is effective immediately.
