SIEGBERG, GERMANY — Siegwerk, one of the world’s leading providers of printing inks and coatings for packaging and labels, has once again elevated its standing in sustainability. The company has been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal, securing an impressive 94th percentile ranking among more than 150,000 companies assessed worldwide. This achievement places Siegwerk within the top 6% of companies in its industry, further reinforcing its role as a frontrunner in sustainable business practices.
With an overall score of 75 out of 100, Siegwerk demonstrated particularly advanced performance across EcoVadis’ assessment areas, which include environmental impact, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. This latest recognition marks a significant milestone for Siegwerk, underscoring both its consistent progress and the effectiveness of its holistic sustainability agenda, HorizonNOW.
“The great performance in terms of percentile is a powerful testament to the effectiveness of our sustainability efforts across all business areas and regions,” said Alina Marm, Head of Global Sustainability & Circular Economy at Siegwerk. “We have made great progress in the various areas of our sustainability agenda HorizonNOW, confirming that we are on the right track on our journey of creating a truly sustainable business.”
EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted independent sustainability rating provider, uses a methodology grounded in international standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the UN Global Compact, and ISO 26000. Its percentile-based ranking system provides clear benchmarks: the Silver Medal begins at the 85th percentile, while Gold status is reserved for companies in the 95th percentile or higher. Siegwerk’s 94th percentile result not only highlights its superior sustainability performance but also places it on the cusp of gold-level recognition.
Compared to its previous EcoVadis assessment in 2023, Siegwerk has advanced by 12 points, a testament to its accelerating momentum. One key driver of this progress is the launch of SustainUP, Siegwerk’s new Sustainable Procurement Program. Introduced earlier this year, the program operationalizes the company’s commitments under its Human Rights Policy & Guiding Principles and Business Partner Code of Conduct. Among its goals: a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, alongside supporting suppliers in mitigating environmental and human rights risks.
SustainUP forms a critical pillar of the broader HorizonNOW agenda, which integrates climate action, human rights, and circular innovation into every aspect of the company’s operations. By embedding sustainability throughout its value chain, Siegwerk continues to move closer to its vision of a circular and climate-conscious business model.
