On Labor Day, May 1, BBH Asia-Pacific unveiled a microsite and viral videos for “Day Off,” an effort by UNIFEM Singapore to institutionalize a weekly day off for domestic workers in Singapore. To quote the site: “Of the 170,000 foreign domestic workers currently employed in Singapore, over half do not enjoy a regular day off.” With Filipina women a major population among those workers, this is far too close to home for us at adobo.
