Cresta unveils new award for creative innovators in memory of Alan Page

LONDON, UK — Cresta has announced a new leading prize as part of its 2023 competition, The Alan Page Award. It aims to further recognize and promote creative innovation and innovators and is in honor of its late President and co-executive director, Alan Page, who passed away in May.

“Alan was a great copywriter and creative director in his own right and had a lifelong fascination with the creative crafts and with what fuelled creative innovation and great execution,” said Lewis Blackwell, Cresta CEO, and a long-time friend and business partner of Alan. “This new award will be focused on identifying strong creative achievements, trends, and group success, subjects that might not be recognized so clearly among the Grand Prix and Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards.”

“Alan started this approach with the President’s Award, where he gave special recognition to such areas as the Middle East region, for its emerging creative strength, and also previously to Dentsu, for its distinctive commitment to creative craft. He is, of course, irreplaceable: our new award will honor one person but take several of us to decide. I will draw on a range of creative leaders associated with Cresta to help arrive at our first winner – or winners – of The Alan Page Award. These will be announced soon,” Lewis furthered.

There is no additional charge for entry into The Alan Page Award. All entrants to 2023 Cresta Awards will automatically qualify for consideration, with the special Award judges looking closely at all work that achieves Shortlist standard or higher.

Alan and Lewis were the co-leaders of the Cresta Awards, where Lewis remains CEO. Their company Creative Standards International is also the majority owner of publisher Lürzer’s Archive, where a feature on some of Page’s earlier award-winning creative work currently appears.

The 2023 Cresta Awards deadline is July 20, 2023.
