The Festival of Asian Marketing Effectiveness announces 2013 Jury

Margot Torres (McDonald’s Philippines) joins 50 of Asia’s top names in marketing to award the most effective campaigns in the region.

MANILA, FEBRUARY 25, 2013 – The Festival of Asian Marketing Effectiveness has announced 50 of the region’s industry top cats to make up the 2013 Jury, headed by Lenovo’s executive director for global brand communications, Ajay Kaul.

Representing the Philippine marketing industry is Margot Torres, senior vice president for marketing and communications at McDonald’s Philippines.

Asked about what makes a FAME-winning campaign, Torres said: "I am looking for insightful ideas executed in the most engaging way which maximized appropriate media that delivered business results. I am also looking for campaigns that make a difference for society yet have brand values woven into the idea."

Her industry experience spans 25 years, working across different areas like market research, media, brand management, public relations and communications, advertising and digital. She has done work for a wide range of companies including FMCG (Unilever), beverage (Pepsi), consumer health (Wyeth Consumer Healthcare), telecommunications (Pocketbell, Smart) and fast food (McDonald’s).

Torres has been with McDonald’s Philippines for close to a decade and is recognized as a brand ambassador by McDonald’s Asia Pacific Middle East Africa Women’s Leadership Network in 2010.

She also served as the president of the Philippine Association of National Advertisers in 2012 and 2010. She was a recipient of the prestigious Agora Award for Excellence in Marketing Management by the Philippine Marketing Association, and was first to receive the Chief Marketing Officer of the Year Award by Tambuli from the University of Asia & the Pacific.

Preliminary judging begins ahead of the Festival, after which 24 members of the jury will head to Shanghai for the final judging stage. The Festival is currently accepting entries until March 4. Winners of the 2013 awards will be revealed at the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards Ceremony taking place on May 9.

“This year’s jury pulls together strong expertise from across Asia Pacific and we’re delighted to have such a quality team on board. The Festival of Asian Marketing Effectiveness serves to set the benchmark for effectiveness in the region and we look forward to seeing which entries this year’s jury consider worthy of taking home an accolade,” says Terry Savage, chairman of Lions Festivals.
