Globe Telecom revenues swell to P3.1 billion in 2012

MANILA, MARCH 22, 2013 – Globe Telecom reports a 55% increase in earnings (a breakthrough of P3.2 billion) at the foot of 2012 as compared to the previous year’s P2 billion. The growth figured prominently in steering a hefty 67% increase in other mobile data revenues, growing from P4.3 billion the previous year to P7.2 billion in 2012.

Globe’s head of mobile data services, Jenny Granada-Echevarria, expressed how the company is pleased with the mobile browsing growth during 2012 due to browsing offers that permit smartphones to go "beyond call and text".

In 2012, Globe unveiled its roster of mobile internet bundles that provide Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers a day of unlimited access to various social networking sites on their mobile phones for as low as 20 pesos.  It also partnered with internet giant Google in offering free data access to the World Wide Web and select Google services via Free Zone powered by Google.

In addition that, Globe came out with its own roster of mobile applications to provide subscribers a better and richer mobile experience with relevant and premium content. The Globe Mobile Apps: GMESSAGE, GMOVIES, GSERVICES and GCASH, all designed to suit the interests and lifestyle of today’s smartphone owners.

Finally, Globe launched its PowerSurf plans, which are mobile browsing plans that use megabytes or MB, a unit used to measure the size of internet-related transactions. Through Globe PowerSurf, subscribers get bulk Megabytes (MB) of mobile data, consumable per kilobyte (KB).
