MPG China adds Hyundai and Kia imports to business portfolio

ASIA-PACIFIC – BEIJING, JANUARY 16, 2011: After a pitch against Guangdong Advertising and incumbent Shanghai Advertising, MPG China reeled in the Hyundai and Kia import business. The agency has been tasked to manage offline media planning and buying for the Import Hyundai and Kia brand in China.
The account is estimated to be worth about US$ 100M, according to Nielsen Media Research.
“We feel fortunate to have begun the year with this fantastic win… This is a completely different part of the Hyundai and Kia business and the pitch was extremely competitive so this victory is even sweeter,” said Thomas Wong, CEO of MPG Greater China, in a statement.
Meanwhile, Vishnu Mohan, CEO of Havas Media Asia Pacific, said, “Thomas and his team have been on a roll since 2011 and 2012 couldn’t have started on a better note… This win will further strengthen our operations in China and allow us to accelerate our rate of growth in the country.”
Just last year, MPG China was appointed the media agency of record of the US$ 125M Dongfeng Yueda Kia Motors (DYK Motors). MPG is the global media communications arm of Havas Media.
