4As Agency of the Year expands to cover digital excellence and independent agencies

PHILIPPINES, JUNE 2, 2011 – Without a doubt, it is still the industry’s most important show. The 4As Agency of the Year (AOY) Awards celebrates not only creativity but the full spectrum of success for advertising agencies, from management of business and market performance to industry leadership & community service, for the previous year. To be named Agency of the Year, an ad agency must compete in all categories and garner the highest total score and either win or be a finalist in Best in Creative.

Outstanding production companies and media agencies are also honored in the AOY, a salute to their work, which is so crucial to the creativity and effectiveness of advertising.

Chaired by TBWA Santiago Mangada Puno Managing Partner and Chief Creative Officer Melvin Mangada, AOY 2010 has new categories: Digital Excellence, recognizing the increasing importance of online and mobile communications, and Independent Agency of the Year, to give ad agencies without multinational network affiliation to compete with fellow independents.

A few changes in the rules will be instated this year. The criteria for Best in Creative will include consistency in craft and in the quality of ideas across different account types and media vehicles. Digital work must be submitted through an AVP walkthrough with an option to submit an award link where the work can still be experienced or must show the material as it was originally displayed.

In the Best in Management of Business category,  revenue growth will no longer be compared to other agencies and the total industry.

For Production Excellence,  production houses will no longer be pre-selected by the Creative Guild. Print production entries will be six best pieces of work instead of the previous three pieces print ads and three pieces others.

The 2010 4As Agency of the Year management committee Vice Chairman and Panel Head for Research and Independent Agency is DM9 JaymeSyfu’s Ronald Barreiro.
