JWT Senior Vice President and Executive Planning Director, Mythili Chandrasekar, flew from Chennai, India, to London, England, last week to accept the Patricia Mann Award—a ₤10,000 bursary—given to women in the advertising community who want to advance their education and training.

The Mann Award for Women has been set up in memory of Patricia Mann OBE who died on Friday 15th September 2006. Mann was a life-time employee of JWT, who began her career as a secretary and rose to Vice-President of International and the first Chief of External Affairs.

“While the Mann Award was open to anyone in the industry anywhere in the world, we are particularly happy that a very passionate and committed professional from JWT India was one of the firstt recipients of that award,” added Colvyn Harris, JWT India CEO. “Mythili is one of our shining stars at JWT, a truly innovative thinker who is constantly challenging the status quo in our industry.”

In London, Mythili delivered an inspiring acceptance speech about her educational and career goals: “I grew up in the belief that all we have to face the world with, was our education. However, the dream and image of sitting in a class in London Business School or in Harvard or Stanford remained a dream until now.”

With this award, Mythili plans to attend the Executive Education Program in Strategic Marketing Management at Stanford.  At Stanford, Mythili hopes to “… to interact with people who are not just on par, but way ahead of me” to further inspire her work and the wider advertising community in India.

For a couple of years now she has been developing “Brand Chakras,” the first eastern view on consumer behavior. Armed with her advanced education and broader network, post-Stanford she wants to evangelize “Brand Chakras” around the globe.
